A GUNFIGHT IN THE CITY SUBURBS: ARMED MAN SHOT BY POLICE NEAR SYDNEY CBD

An armed individual has been wounded by police after allegedly assaulting two women and menacing officers in Sydney’s inner suburbs. Police were alerted to St Neot Ave in Potts Point, just ten minutes from the central business district, around 10:50 am on Tuesday after reports that the man had entered a nearby apartment complex and attacked two women.

In response, officers attempted to use tasers, but the devices failed to subdue him.

Police described the incident: the man reportedly threatened responding officers with the weapon before a police firearm was discharged, striking him. A crime scene has been established, and the current condition of those hurt remains unknown.

Multiple emergency vehicles were observed on St Neot Ave, and the area has been sealed off by authorities. Police added that more information would be released as it becomes available.

More updates to follow.
