Christiana's journey began with years of baking at home and markets, gradually evolving into a desire for a dedicated space. "The space came from years of baking at home and at markets, and slowly realizing I wanted a place of my own," she shares. "It felt like the right time to give the baking a permanent home."

And so, Ard Sydney was born, nestled within an old industrial battery shop. The open-plan kitchen takes center stage, while outdoor seating invites you to linger and enjoy the ambiance. Christiana's approach to baking is reflected in the space itself: warm, unfussy, and deeply personal.

"The space is built around the kitchen. There is no in-seat dining, just outdoor seating and a strong connection to what is happening behind the counter," she explains. "The idea was never about scale or speed, but about creating something small and intentional. A corner where people can slow down, even briefly, enjoy something sweet, and step out of the rush of the day."

The baking itself is a labor of love, with many techniques passed down from Christiana's mom, who now works alongside her. "I hope people feel comforted by the aroma when they walk in. That they take a moment to chat, ask questions, and enjoy the space," she says.

When it comes to must-try treats, Christiana is a tough act to follow. But she hints at the baklava layer cake as a creative masterpiece, and the pistachio olive oil and funfetti cake, affectionately dubbed the 'gayke'.

Beyond the cakes, Ard Sydney offers playful twists on classic buns and a thoughtful drinks list. The salted tahini caramel cold brew is Christiana's pick, while matcha lovers can indulge in iced maple or plum and pistachio matcha.

At its core, Ard Sydney is about creating something beautiful and sharing it with the neighborhood. "Sweet treats, sunlight, conversation, and permitting yourself to slow down, even if it is just for a few minutes," Christiana says. "That's what Ard Sydney is all about."
